Reading Basics Book 2

As a part of the LIFEPAC^® 1st Grade Language Arts curriculum from AOP, Reading Basics Book 2 is a colorful reader that features 24 easy-to-read stories that increase in length and difficulty. Utilizing 1- and 2-syllable, short vowel words, the reader includes important phonics concepts, such as short vowel words, beginning and ending consonant digraphs, consonant blends, and compound words.

Cotton Candy, the second in a series of five readers, utilizes the inclusion of high-frequency words, which are also called sight words or instant words, to increase the interest level of the stories. Since drilling of high-frequency sight words helps to increase fluency, Reading Basics Book 2 lists all instant words utilized within the reader. While this reader can be used independently, teaching instructions for incorporation into the LIFEPAC^® 1st Grade Language Arts homeschool program are detailed within the LIFEPAC^® 1st Grade Language Arts Teacher's Guides.
